FAQ Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

How Long Do Eyelash Extensions Last?

Our natural lashes have a growth cycle in which the lashes regrow. Eyelash extensions last from 3-6 weeks as part of the normal lash cycle. How long the eyelash extension will last is dependent on your own natural eyelash growth and how well you take care of the extensions. The eyelash extensions fall out together with your natural lashes. On average a person loses between 1 to 5 eyelashes every day, the loss of eyelash extensions are more noticeable due to them being thicker and darker than your natural lashes. Touch ups are done to replace any naturally falling lashes and keep your lashes looking their best.

What do I need to do before my eyelash extension application?

Remove any traces of eye make-up (particularly mascara) using an oilfree make-up remover.

How long does it take for eyelash extensions process?

The whole process takes approximately 90 minutes for the initial full set. Many of our clients like to use this time to rest.

Does it hurt to get eyelash extensions?

The eyelash extensions procedure is completely painless.

Who shouldn't get eyelash extensions?

If one or more conditions apply to you: you are in the 1st trimester of pregnancy, you suffer from eye allergies, you have highly sensitive skin, you suffer from healing troubles, you suffer from unexplained hair loss.

Can I apply mascara to Eyelash Extensions?

Yes, although one of the advantages of eyelash extensions is that mascara is unnecessary! Mascara may shorten the lifespan of your extensions. However, if you do choose to use mascara, ensure it is water based. Do not use oilbased or waterproof mascara.

Waterproof mascara or any type of oil based mascara can dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your eyelash extensions, causing them to fall sooner. Care also needs to be taken in washing off the mascara. Only use a water based eye makeup remover.

Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing Eyelash Extensions?

Yes. The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise etc.

Special care is required but overall maintenance is low. We do recommend, however, that you avoid water on your lashes for 12 hours directly after application, and avoid steam for up to 24 hours. A light mist is fine.

Can I use Eyelash Curlers with Eyelash Extensions?

We do not recommend using mechanical eyelash curlers on your eyelash extensions as these curlers will damage the extensions and possibly your own natural lashes. The extensions do have a natural curl but if more of a curl is required we recommend using a heated eyelash curler.

How do I take care of my new Eyelash Extensions?

  • Do not get lashes wet for 12- 24 hours. Light mist is fine
  • Avoid hot steam or sauna
  • Avoid running water directly on your lashes
  • Do not rub your eyes
  • Only use water based mascara (optional)
  • If applying mascara do so from middle to tip, avoid root area
  • Use water based eye makeup remover
  • Do not perm your lashes
  • Do not use a mechanical eyelash curler
  • Do not pull on your lashes (this may cause your natural lashes to come out prematurely)

Are the products safe?

Yes, we adhere the eyelash extension to your natural eyelash, and as such, no contact to your skin is made. The application process is pain-free and relaxing that most clients fall asleep during the procedure. However, improper application by an unqualified eyelash technician can cause damage to your natural lashes. We recommend only using a Certified Eyelash Extension Specialist.
